How do we know if we are on the path? Many of us recognize moments where “Spirit” taps us to engage with the larger reality of being. They are personal, quite intimate experiences of energy, wholeness, or something that we recognize as multi-dimensional. As we are called to explore a greater reality, a process begins to court our wholeness.

This is called different things by the spiritual and psychological traditions in which it is often addressed, including the path of individuation, the warrior’s path, hearing the call. How do we know when we have begun this process? It may seem as though our world begins to unravel as unconscious contents of the psyche begin to enter our conscious awareness. We engage with the unknown, the larger reality of ourselves, and this may be accompanied by a surreal feeling as we walk the path. When this process is activated, we are engaged in a relationship with the unknown, the larger Dreaming from which we have emerged as clusters of density. The call to reengage with wholeness has begun, and the universe, Indra’s net and its lines of energy, organizes to support this unfolding. We have the opportunity to reconnect the luminous fibers of our being with the essence world and all sentient experience. We regain fluidity, and our connection with wholeness.

Each of us has a unique way to access the unknown, the dreaming, or the unconscious, to recognize its energy in our lives and in our bodies. It becomes our task to find what it is we do or feel that opens these doors, a single “deliberate, precise, sustained” act can begin the journey. This process has its own structure, a structure that we come to know and appreciate. We learn to acknowledge our body as navigator, knowing that it is intimately connected with the underlying sentient reality. The body will recognize and honor our personal limitations, finding the most efficient manner to engage with the wholeness of being. When we find the tools that work for us, our commitment to this path means that we return to these tools again and again… as they take us deeper into the underlying reality of being, revealing our next steps on the path.
